Q) Can I bring my 'Non Muslim' friend?
Absolutely! Non Muslims and Muslims are equally welcome to enjoin and partake in the Blessed Summit. We acknowledge that we live in a society that consists of people from many different backgrounds and would like to reach out to all members of our community. We encourage all our guests to maximise their benefit of coming to the Summit by following the Adab of the Blessed Summit . Non muslims may not want to take part in the eebadat (ritual worship) but may nevertheless wish to partake from the lectures and discussion sessions.
Q) Are sisters welcome?
Yes of course. The Blessed Summit is a family event. Knowledge is just as important for women as it is for men hence we encourage all to attend. There is separate provision for brothers and sisters for accommodation, food and lectures/prayer. We encourage guests to bring family members, brothers and sisters to embark upon a spiritual journey of realisation as the family unit is the source of the solution to the wider problems in society.
Q) Is there separate accommodation available for sisters?
There is separate accommodation, wudu (ablution), dinner, prayer and lecture/nasheeds areas for brothers and sisters.
Q) Can I get involved in helping out at the Blessed Summit ?
We welcome all volunteers that seek to better our community and help us to deliver this message. All you have to do is follow the link on the left hand side stating 'Volunteer Now' and fill in an application form. We will contact you shortly after receiving your application. Everyone can contribute with whatever skills they can offer. All you need is enthusiasm and determination.
Q) Can we attend for part of the event only?
You're welcome to come and go as you please. We understand that you may have other commitments for part of the weekend and thus may have to leave. Thus we have made a schedule of seminars available for your convenience. We do however encourage all to attend the key note speech and graduation ceremony on the Sunday evening with the final supplication (dua) , although we encourage you to spend the entire weekend at Hijaz in order to maximise your experience at the Summit . Coaches for those who wish to attend Sunday only will be leaving on Sunday morning*. Please refer to the Blessed Summit commissioner in your locality.
Q) Are there any charges involved?
The Blessed Summit is free of any charges to attend. Food and accommodation are generously provided by our hosts at Hijaz College . There may be a small optional contribution to cover transport costs from your locality. Please refer to the Blessed Summit Commissioner in your region for further details. See Contact Us.
Q) Are children allowed to come?
Yes. So long as all under 16's are fully supervised by an adult for the duration of their stay they are welcome to come. There are scheduled activities and classes for children with qualified child minders to allow parents to take part in the lectures and other activities.
Q) What do I need to bring with me for the weekend?
This will vary for each individual. We recommend everyone brings their own sleeping bag and pillow for hygiene reasons. A pen and pad/laptop may be useful to make notes during the lectures. We encourage you to bring modest clothing for the weekend along with your usual essential toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush etc). Food and drink will be provided throughout the weekend. Most of all we recommend you bring a tasbeeh (prayer beads) to aid you in your weekend dhikr (Remembrance of God). You wont need any money whilst at the Blessed Summit unless you decide to take a tour along the souk stalls selling various kinds of Islamic merchandise including cds, dvds, hats, jubbas, perume and much more.
Q) I don't know much about Islam can I still come?
All that is required to benefit from your experience at the Blessed Summit is an open mind and a sincere intention to embark upon a spiritual journey regardless of how much/little knowledge you may possess. We hope to inspire those with little knowledge to embark on a journey of seeking knowledge and those with knowledge to embark on a journey to experience and implementation of knowledge. So there's something for everyone at the Blessed Summit.
Q) How do I get there?
If you decide to travel on one of our designated coaches it's easy. Simply contact your regional Blessed Summit Commissioner (See Contact Us) and he will direct you to where you need to be and when. Alternatively if you would like to travel by any other means please refer to the directions to Hijaz College on the Contact Us page.
