Dr Sofina

Dr Sofina is a cardiothoracic surgeon based in London. She is currently completing her Masters and has a strong and active membership with the Hijaz Community.

Rizwan Ali

With a background in economics working in the insurance industry equips Rizwan for this role well. He has experienced busy city life whilst a student. This has allowed him to support other employees in the industry and provide mentoring support for them.

Rahil Mumtaz

Rahil works in the IT field. He teaches Fiqh and dhikr regularly in his community in Bradford. He is a regular contributor to the Hijaz community based programmes.

Kasim Shahzad

Kasim has completed a degree in politics and is an activist on issues affecting students. He is keen to meet like minded students that will allow a support network within the student population to grow nationally and internationally.

Zahira Yunis

Zahira works full time as a teaching assistant and dedicates much of her spare time to painting Islamic art. Much of her work has been sold or donated to charities to raise funds.

Leigh-Ann Hussain

Leigh Ann is a community activist who holds regular sessions for women to be mentored and provides a support group for them in her community. She has a young family and lives and works in Bedford.

Dr Samina Iqbal

Samina works in the hospital sector and is training to become a GP. She dedicates much of her time to her work and her family. She works in the heart of the inner city and is aware of many issues that surround women in the Muslim and non-Muslim community. These skills equip her for a role as a mentor outside her work.

Mahmood Ul Haq

Mahmood works in the IT industry and has dedicated much of his time over the past few years in supporting Hijaz initiatives.

Zarish Rahman

Zarish is currently a student in Dentistry at the University of Manchester. She has actively worked in her community over this year to create a support network for students.

Ameerah Akram

Ameerah is in the final stages of completing her LPC. She also works voluntarily for a company that basis its philosophy on social and corporate responsibility.

Halimah Ali

Halimah has completed a degree in audiology and has worked within the student population to provide a support network for them. In her spare time she provides a support group for sisters who have begun to wear the hijab and has been an anchor for many young women in her community

Usman Ali

Usman is a self employed estate agent who is active in working with other local businesses in giving back to his own community.

Shareef Ramzan

Shareef has dedicated much of his life to work at the college here at Hijaz to provide pastoral care to the students. He is a role model for them and continues to ensure that standards of morality are maintained within the student population here at Hijaz

Mohammed Sohail

Currently a student at the University of Leeds Sohail spends his time with family and working for Hijaz Community on a voluntary basis.

Nasir Bhatti

IT manager working for national traffic control centre. He has a wealth of experience in the IT industry. He has also been an active trade unionist where he worked for the National Executive committee for the MSF looking after equality

Omar Shah

Is a student studying dietetics, and has a previous degree in biomedical sciences. He is a keen golfer and enjoys surfing. In between degrees, he has travelled extensively which has allowed him to  learn from other cultures.

Dr Zia

Zia is a dentist by profession with many years of practice and teaching in an academic environment He regularly supports community based projects in any way he can financially or with his skills he has built up as a mentor.
